More and more cities across the U.S. are upgrading their building codes to require photoluminescent emergency lighting systems for stairwells and exit pathways to ensure safe passage for visitors during power outages or other incidents. Cities are modifying their building codes to mandate photoluminescent systems in all high-rise buildings regardless of when they were built. The movement traces its origins to recommendations by New York City's World Trade Center Building Code Task Force. (PRWeb Apr 22, 2009)
